Following the hold-ups to phase 1 of the flood risk reduction project which have been covered previously and the weather conditions over the Christmas period the large bore pipes for the work have been delivered to site. Visible movement at last despite the unnecessary delays!
The progress of the job is very pleasing but its a real pity that it has taken such a long time to get this far. It has slowly emerged into the glare of the public arena that much of the problem was caused by one man who piped an important dyke run that did not belong to him, using pipes which were too small for the job. After he was found out he then spent much time and energy creating obstruction and delays to the project in as many ways as possible. The time wasted, cost to the parish council (and thus we the residents through council tax), and stress created by him is unforgiveable, particularly when putting things right is being charged to the community! It seems it was not enough that we were flooded, we are inflicted with additional expense as well.
ReplyDeleteNew pipes arrived in the village, great. The new pipes are better than 2 x 12", me thinks
ReplyDeleteThere's me thinking that phase 1 is about to start and we could see light at the end of the tunnel, No such luck. I have been advised that another resident is denying access to the contractors. What do we have to do?
ReplyDeleteI am that frustrated with it all, I think the Golden Fleece method is called for!!!!
I have just heard that phase 1 is allegedly starting week commencing 31st January. I sincerely hope there are no more hold ups.
